Interview with the Worried About Henry Team

Q: When was Worried About Henry founded, and who was responsible for bringing all of the pieces together?

A: Worried About Henry was founded in 2014 in Liverpool. It all started with a kitchen discussion among Christie and a few friends during a uni afterparty. Just a few days later, the first show was booked. We would like to give a shout-out to 24 Kitchen St, Dillinja, and Chimpo.

Q: How has Worried About Henry evolved since its inception?

A: It has been an incredible journey to witness its growth over the years. From small 300-capacity shows in a couple of cities, we expanded to larger venues in more cities and eventually found ourselves at Printworks, Warehouse Project, Royal Docks, Parklife, and more. We started with just 2 or 3 people working on it, but now we have a team of around 12, which has allowed us to expand and offer even more amazing experiences.

Q: When setting out to create the brand, what was your mission?

A: Initially, it was just an idea among friends who wanted to see some acts live. We never imagined it would go this far, but our mission has always been to create incredible parties and bring people together through the power of music.

Q: What are some of the key moments in the brand’s history up until now?

A: There have been so many memorable moments, but some that stand out include our first large shows at Bramley Mooore Dock and Warehouse Project in Manchester and Liverpool, respectively. Being part of Parklife has been incredible for us as well. In the South, going into London and doing Printworks was a massive milestone. Another key moment was the first Hybrid Minds Outline tour, which showcased the growth from its humble beginnings.

Q: How important are events like WAH Open Air for the label and DnB culture as a whole?

A: These events are extremely important, not just for us, but for everyone involved in the culture. With ever-changing sounds, venues, and people, it’s crucial to have an outlet to gather, discover new acts, new music, and be part of a worldwide culture that continues to expand. Each show is someone’s entry into this world, so we strive to make every experience the best it can be at all times.

Q: How has WAH become such a globally recognised institution in DnB, and such a staple of the culture up and down the UK?

A: It’s a result of a lot of hard work and dedication. We are fortunate to have a fantastic team that is knowledgeable, dedicated, and passionate about creating unforgettable parties. Over time, we have taken more steps than we ever imagined, growing bigger and bigger. Today, we find ourselves as a globally recognized institution in drum and bass, proud to be a staple of the culture throughout the UK.
