This Tuesday 23 of August we are proud to present the Number 1 selling UK artist; Tinchy Stryder.
Best known for his hits Spaceship, Bright Lights and Number 1.
The Ghanaian-born musician began making music in 1997, and tried his hand in the business industry just a few years later.
Quickly mixing with some of the biggest names in the industry, Tinchy made appearances alongside Dizzee Rascal and Wiley on pirate radio in 2000. He was part of grime group Roll Deep along with Dizzee from 2002. And a year later he starred as a cameo in Dizzee’s music video for Jus’ A Rascal.
Away from performing himself, Tinchy is the co-founder and co-CEO of Takeover Roc Nation along with Jay Z.
The budding businessman is also the president and chief executive of music publishing company Takeover/Cloud 9, and is currently Chairman and A&R executive of Takeover Entertainment Limited.
He released his debut album Star in the Hood in 2007 with the main singles Breakaway and Something About Your Smile, and he followed it with his debut extended play Cloud 9 EP a year later.
His other two albums are called Catch 22 in 2009, and Third Strike in 2010. Tinchy Stryder last released a record in 2010. In the meantime he’s been on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!, released a charity single with The Chuckle Brothers, and brought out a range of headphones with Goji. Now aged 29, he’s just released his fourth album, ‘360º / The Cloud 9 LP’, on his own label Cloud 9 –
