Hi Eelke welcome to Eden Ibiza! So is this your first time playing at Eden Ibiza, what are your thoughts so far on the club!?
Yes this is my first time at the club, I’ve only been here for 15 minutes and it looks amazing! The sound system is great, I really like the Void system they have behind the decks there, I haven’t been onto the dancefloor yet so I think I will take a trip down there to check the sound out, but yeah first impressions are really really good!
What do you have in store for us tonight, what can we expect from your set for Soundgarden?
I’m going to play a couple of new records from myself and I have a lot of music from other people that I would like to play out as well. I usually always go with the flow of the evening to determine how I’m going to play.
When was the first time you came to Ibiza? Can you remember the year and was it for work or holiday?
It was for work to play I think at Privilege about 5-6 years ago, but it was such a short visit like literally in and out so I never got to see the island properly until now, it’s always been very short flights in and out for work visits in the past. This time I’ve actually got 2 weeks here for some down time so I’m getting to see the island properly for the first time!
What does the island mean to you?
It’s strange because I know about all the massive clubbing culture here but when you look at the island as a whole it’s so chilled out, I never really noticed that because before I was always just flying into the club and out again, but this time I’m starting to see this whole new world separate to the clubbing aspect which is much more relaxed. There’s such a big contrast but I’m liking it.
Any new projects coming up for you?
Yes, I have a couple of records getting released on Monika Kruse’s label Terminal M, I just teamed up with them to release 2 or 3 originals and a remix, so that will be available in the next 6 months or so. Apart from that I’ve not done a lot of music this year, I’m kind of taking some time out to refresh and reinvent my sound and will probably get back into things perhaps after ADE in November. But asides from that just playing lots of gigs in the meantime.
Describe your sound in 1 sentence.
Well it’s always been deep and melodic, melancholy and filled with emotion, I go from deep house to techno and anything in between but it always has a melodic undertone to it whatever the genre.
